A walk through Botanic Garden
Batumi Botanical Garden is one of the biggest in the world. It’s 113 hectare and is situated 9 km from Batumi in the village called Green Cape(Mtsvane Kontskhi in Georgian) It was founded by Andrei Krasnov in 1912 and took him about 15 years to make this beautiful garden out of forest.
Architectural inspiration were Legendary gardens of Semiramis. Garden begins in highlands and goes down to the sea shore. It consists of 9 floristic continents: New Zealand, Australia, Himalia, East Asia, North America, South America, Mexican and Mediterranean. But the whole territory is divided into 21 zones.
There is collection of more than 5000 exotic plants and trees. Side to side here you can find Blue Eucalypts and Japanese Sakura, cactus and bamboos, palms and giant fir trees, tea plantation and citrus trees. After an interesting walk you’ll be able to swim in the sea and have a picnic at the sea shore.
